Once Upon an Inquisition
A Screenplay

He had the worst summer job in history.

THIS is the darkly comic coming-of-age tale of a student in France in the Middle Ages, who is forced to spend his last summer before college interning for the Inquisition, and gets involved in a quest for the Holy Grail.

Of course, there is a sinister inquisitor and evil henchmen who menace him and all that he holds dear. At stake is the brother he competes with; his uncle, a bishop with secrets; as well as the unattainable highborn maiden whom he loves. Set for burning is his teacher, the last of the Knights Templar; along with a scientist more clever than Da Vinci, and other innocent victims.

To save them all, he must finally confront his own past along with the terror of the dungeon through trials, a hotly fought tournament, and mystical visions, a true one long awaited and another hastily improvised.

All is not entirely grim, however. Moments of action, light humor, romance, and fantasy are scattered along the way to a traditional all-around happy ending.

ONCE UPON AN INQUISITION is a feature-length (122 pages) satiric historical comedy that deals frankly with themes of concern today, including religiously-inspired violence and the love lives of the clergy, through a timeless message of toleration.
